Yurri Hynson

After many years working in the physiotherapy industry, supporting numerous sports teams and working in all aspects of the private sector Yurri has developed a passion for many areas of physiotherapy. These include sports therapy, vocational therapy, working with the older adult, diagnosing difficult complex injuries, chronic pain, disability, and injury rehabilitation. Yurri also enjoys mentoring staff and seeing them go on to be successful in a career that he has found immensely rewarding.

KCP Physiotherapy was started in a treatment room at Don Oliver's Fitness City (owned by his parents) in 1991 where Yurri also worked as a group fitness instructor and Personal trainer before going onto to study physiotherapy. While completing his study in Auckland he continued working in the fitness industry, primarily under the tutelage of Don Oliver who won several medals at commonwealth games and represented NZ at 3 Olympic games as a weightlifter.

In 1998 Yurri purchased a property in Kapiti which was the long serving x-ray house. The property was extensively renovated and the the first KCP site was opened in 2000. KCP grew to include several sites and a team of staff. It also branched out and developed its own fitness centre, FIT CLUB, which is a 1500sqm facility in Kapiti. In June 2013 Transit new Zealand purchased the Kapiti Road property to make way for the new state highway. KCP Kapiti was relocated to the brand new multi-million dollar Kapiti Aquatic Centre. KCP will continue to evolve and adapt so that it meets the needs of the community in a cutting edge manner. We really appreciate the support and loyalty that the community Yurri has grown up in, has shown him over many years. In return KCP has and will continue to give back as much as possible to the community by way of sponsorship and support whenever possible. We recognise that there are many dedicated "locals" who have given a huge amount of the their "time, effort and money" to support local sport and initiatives - without these people many clubs and activities would not continue to exist.
